About the Adventure

Activity Level 4: Strenuous (length and riding speed) Guides: Lead-Joe, Assistant-Megan Location: Emlenton, PA Explore one of the most scenic bike paths in western Pennsylvania: the Allegheny River Trail! The ART is a 32 mile rail-trail running from Emlenton to Oil City, PA. The Allegheny River in this area is a National Wild and Scenic River, and Bald Eagle sightings are common. We'll ride through two lengthy unlit tunnels, Rockland and Kennerdale. Bring a bike light or headlamp for these! There is a short gravel section in which we will walk our bikes. Our ride will be a gentle climb on paved surface. We will maintain an average riding speed of 10-12 mph. This is an out-and-back ride with a total distance of 39.5 miles. Elevation gain: 130 feet This outing is limited to 10 riders. If the event is full, email to get on the waitlist. Heavy rain cancels the event in which case you will be fully refunded. WAC Biking Safety and Etiquette 1. Helmets are required and must be worn while riding. 2. Eye protection is strongly recommended. (sunglasses or clear safety glasses) 3. Using phones for talking or taking pictures while riding is unsafe and not permitted. 4. Front and rear lights are recommended. Lights are required for tunnels. (Headlamp is fine.) 5. We ride single file and maintain 1-2 bike lengths between riders. 6. We ride on the right side of the trail and pass on the left. We announce intent to pass with a bell or voicing, "Passing on your left." 7. We use hand signals for turns, braking, and pointing out trail hazards. 8. We attempt to maintain a consistent speed. 9. Bring a bike light or headlamp for the 2 tunnels.
