About the Adventure

Activity Level 3: Vigorous (distance and time on trail) Location: Brandon, PA near Clear Creek State Forest Guides: Meisha-lead, Lindsay-assist Explore one of the most scenic bike paths in western Pennsylvania: the Allegheny River Trail! Imagine biking alongside the mighty Allegheny River with the crisp fall air blowing by, taking in the stunning scenery of this National Wild and Scenic River. This out-and-back bike ride will feature 24 miles of former railroad turned bike trail. We will venture alongside the Allegheny River and through two historic train tunnels before turning and making our way back the way we came. The total trail network includes 8 interconnected rail-trails traversing almost 80 miles of former rail lines in western PA and is included in the proposed Erie-to-Pittsburgh trail. We will maintain an average riding speed of 10-12 mph. Total mileage for this adventure is 24 miles. This outing is limited to 12 riders. If the event is full, email lindsay@womensadventureclubwpa.com to get on the waitlist. Heavy rain cancels the event in which case you will be fully refunded. WAC Biking Safety and Etiquette 1. Helmets are required and must be worn while riding. 2. Eye protection is strongly recommended. (sunglasses or clear safety glasses) 3. Using phones for talking or taking pictures while riding is unsafe and not permitted. 4. Front and rear lights are recommended. Lights are required for tunnels. (Headlamp is fine.) 5. We ride single file and maintain 1-2 bike lengths between riders. 6. We ride on the right side of the trail and pass on the left. We announce intent to pass with a bell or voicing, "Passing on your left." 7. We use hand signals for turns, braking, and pointing out trail hazards. 8. We attempt to maintain a consistent speed. 9. Bring a bike light or headlamp for the 2 tunnels.
