Activity Level 1: Easy Location: Frick Park, Pittsburgh Guide: Abby Each month The Women's Adventure Club offers a gentle, relaxed hike. We keep these hikes under three miles with minimal elevation gain and a slower, more relaxed pace. These hikes are for women who are interested in spending time in nature without covering a lot of ground. Maybe you're new to hiking, recovering from a small injury, or wanting to take it easy. This monthly hiking series is for you! For December, we will meet at the Frick Environmental Center and traverse several of the trails at Frick Park. Frick Park is almost 650 acres of woodlands, playgrounds, and conservation areas right in the heart of Pittsburgh. If you haven't been here yet, it highlights some of the best of western Pennsylvania right in the city. As you wind through the trails, you can't help but think of the meandering trails of the Pittsburgh Zoo, or the ravines and rock formations of the Laurel Highlands. For this relaxed hike, we'll head past the Environmental Center and onto the popular Falls Ravine Trail which takes us down into the park's ravines, then head to the Tranquil Trail (because if you see a trail called the "Tranquil Trail," you should totally take it!), wind our way back up hill on the South Clayton Trail, then wrap around the Nature Trail to take us back where we started for a total of 2.26 miles and 335 feet of elevation.
