About the Adventure

Activity Level 4: Strenuous (length and riding speed) Guides: Joe-lead, Megan-assist Location: Dilltown, PA The Ghost Town Trail mainline is 32.3 miles long running from Saylor Park in Black Lick to Ebensburg, PA. This ride will have a gentle climb as we ride from Dilltown to Ebensburg (19.75 miles one way.) There is one slightly steeper section in which we'll be rewarded with beautiful creek views and the sound of rushing water. As we pedal through the Black Lick Creek watershed, we'll encounter the remnants of the coal and iron industry and the ghost towns that were once thriving communities in this region. In Vintondale, we'll see the Eliza Furnace. This 39.5 mile out-and-back ride is on a crushed stone trail. Elevation gain: 370 feet. We will maintain an average riding speed of 10-12 mph. This outing is limited to 10 riders. If the event is full, email lindsay@womensadventureclubwpa.com to get on the waitlist. Heavy rain cancels the event in which case you will be fully refunded. WAC Biking Safety and Etiquette 1. Helmets are required and must be worn while riding. 2. Eye protection is strongly recommended. (sunglasses or clear safety glasses) 3. Using phones for talking or taking pictures while riding is unsafe and not permitted. 4. Front and rear lights are recommended. Lights are required for tunnels. (Headlamp is fine.) 5. We ride single file and maintain 1-2 bike lengths between riders. 6. We ride on the right side of the trail and pass on the left. We announce intent to pass with a bell or voicing, "Passing on your left." 7. We use hand signals for turns, braking, and pointing out trail hazards. 8. We attempt to maintain a consistent speed.
