About the Adventure
Activity Level 2: Moderate Guides: Joe and Lindsay Introduction to Hiking Series This series of hikes has been designed for those who are new to hiking and those who want to learn a little more about what can help to make the hiking experience more rewarding. Each hike will increase in length and amount of vertical gain. Sign up for all four or pick and choose the hikes that appeal to you. Hike #2: Hiking Technique+ This hike will offer you the opportunity to learn about the skills that make an ascent, descent, or stream crossing safer and easier to do. We’ll look at how trekking poles can be of assistance on those up and down hill sections of the trail, or when crossing a stream. The hike itself will include sections where the afore mentioned skills will come in handy. This hike will be 4.5 – 5.0 miles in length and ascend about 340 feet. This adventure is a blend of hiking and instruction meant to help you with your ascents, descents, and stream crossings. It's led by Joe, friend of the WAC. Joe has worked in the outdoor industry for a long time and is a gear expert, having worked at REI for many years. He's also led a variety of hiking trips. If you've been wanting to get out for hikes but are feeling unsure about getting up and down hills and how to make use of your trekking poles, Hike No. 2 is for you!
