About the Adventure

Activity Level 2: Moderate Location: Laurel Caverns, Farmington Guide: Abby + Laurel Caverns guide On this guided adventure tour, we will be introduced to the marvelous sandstone cave that is the Laurel Caverns. Our guide will walk us through the caverns, explaining some of the history and geology of this unique cave. We will start in the lighted area of the caverns on this tour and descend approximately 25 stories to the two largest unlit portions of Laurel Caverns. Two side passages will also be explored, which involves some crawling. Laurel Caverns provides a hard hat with a light, but participants are encouraged to bring a hand-held light as well. Participants must wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts, and secure shoes with good tread and ankle support. After our caving experience, we will have a BYO-picnic in the pavilion near the visitors center if you would like to stay on-site for lunch!
