Activity Levels 2: Moderate Location: McConnells Mill State Park, Portersville, PA Guide: Abby Join us for a lovely spring morning as we hike alongside the breathtaking Slippery Rock Creek Gorge, a designated National Natural Landmark and one of our favorite spots for hiking. This 3 mile loop will take us along the Alpha Pass Trail, the Kildoo Trail, and the Slippery Rock Gorge Trail, offering stunning views of rocky landscapes, hemlock trees, and the rushing creek below. Highlights include the historic Old Mill and its dam, the iconic McConnells Mill covered bridge, striking boulders and rock formations, small waterfalls, and the dynamic waters of Slippery Rock Creek. It's truly one of the most beautiful hikes in our area! Total distance: 3 miles. Elevation gain approximately 300 feet. The first 1.5 miles of the trail are rocky, with one or two sections that feel exposed to the river below. If you're very uncomfortable with heights, these areas may pose a challenge. (Also, my parents did this hike at ages 77 and 78...so it's all relative.)
