About the Adventure
Activity Level 1: Easy Location: Zen Center of Pittsburgh, Sewickley Guides: Colleen-instructor, Lindsay-will share the experience with you Join us for a morning Qigong class at the Zen Center of Pittsburgh. Qigong is the ancient Chinese healing art and science of using breathing techniques, gentle movement, and meditation to cleanse, strengthen, and circulate Qi. It is practiced for health maintenance, healing, and increasing vitality. Kelly, one of our community members, describes the practice as "meditation in motion." Regular Qigong practice leads to better health, vitality and a quiet mind. The ultimate purpose of Qigong is to cultivate Qi (life energy) within us to flow powerfully and smoothly through the body. In closing our Qigong series of movements we will engage in meditation as practiced at the Zen Center, Zazen. This cultivates a calm mind bringing relief from negative attachments. It can help both in raising our sense of well-being, and in engaging our life from a place of mindfulness and mental acuity. While Buddhism as a religion is replete with faith and belief, the Buddha’s Teaching when manifested in one’s own life is itself closer to a skill set, unfolding of our own Awakening. The meditation hall is open to everyone. This class will be held indoors at the Zen Center of Pittsburgh, located in Sewickley. Colleen Crivello will be our instructor. Class size is limited to 12.
