About the Adventure
Activity Level 3 - Vigorous Location: Moraine State Park Guide: Lindsay The North Country Trail is the longest in the National Trails System, stretching 4,600 miles across eight states from North Dakota to Vermont. We'll be hiking 8 of those miles! We'll hike through deciduous forests where everything is so very green. The trail takes us through stands of pines and through a hardwood forest. We'll cross streams, catch glimpses of Lake Arthur, and maybe spot some Spring wildflowers that are still hanging on. With over 1,000 feet in ascent, this hike will feel somewhat strenuous. If you want to join us but are feeling uncertain about the activity level, feel free to contact me and we'll talk about it. There is an option to bail out at mile 6 if you'd prefer to skip the elevation climbs toward the end. Everything is so lush and green, the birdsong is lovely, and the soft trickle of the streams sounds so peaceful. Total distance: 8.1 miles. Elevation gain: 1,060 feet
