Activity Level 2-3: Moderate to Vigorous (depending on distance) Location: Ohiopyle, PA Guides: Meisha-lead, Lindsay-assist Our Baughman Rocks hike at Ohiopyle State Park offers stunning views of the surrounding forest and the Youghiogheny River. This hike will consist of two loop hikes. The second loop is optional. Both hikes start and end in the same location. Our first loop will bring us to the Baughman Rocks Overlook. This is a 5 mile long hike and elevation gained is 880 feet. Once we are back at our starting point we will complete the second, optional loop on the Ferncliff Trail. The Ferncliff trail is one of the most popular trails in the state park because of its proximity to the falls. It takes hikers through a wooded area before reaching the rocks, which are large sandstone formations overlooking the river. Hikers can climb to the top of the rocks for even more impressive views. We will pause at the Ohiopyle high bridge to take in the scenery before heading back on the GAP trail. The second loop is 3 miles long and elevation gained is 290 feet. Total combined distance for both loops is 8 miles and total combined elevation is 1,170 feet.
