About the Adventure

Activity Level: Strenuous Location: Rachel Carson Trail, Wexford Guide: Abby The Rachel Carson Trail, named for biologist and conservationist Rachel Carson, is a 46-mile trail spanning Harrison Hills County Park in Freeport to North Park in Wexford. Each summer is the Rachel Carson Trail Challenge where participants traverse the diverse landscape of the 46 miles in a single day! For this adventure, we're going to traverse the section of the Rachel Carson Trail in North Park. We'll meet just inside the North Park boundary at the McKinney soccer complex, then head east/southeast through the park. Towards the end of the North Park boundary on the east end, the RCT pops in and out of the park, so we'll turn back where the trail intersects Bucktail Drive. If you joined us for previous section hikes of the RCT, this is combining just about all three of those hikes in North Park! This is an out and back adventure. Total hiking distance: 16.2 miles Total elevation: 2,034 feet 💌 Registered participants will receive an email with meeting location, suggested gear, and other pertinent info before the event.
