About the Adventure

Activity Level 3: Strenuous Location: Mingo Creek County Park, Finleyville Guide: Abby Mingo Creek County Park is a true Washington County gem - and one that many people don't even know exists! Spanning over 2,600 acres of protected woodlands, open meadows, creekside pavilions, and trails, this peaceful park is the perfect backdrop for a spring adventure. We'll start from the Horse Trailer parking area and pick up the orange loop, winding our way through beautiful mixed forest, patches of evergreens, and open meadows, crossing the many small tributaries that flow toward Mingo Creek along the way. This is a quiet, unhurried hike with plenty of opportunity to soak in the birdsong and discover what's blooming in the woods this time of year. Midway through, we'll take a snack break along Mingo Creek - a lovely spot to rest, chat, and listen to the sound of flowing water. From there, we'll continue on with a steady climb up the hillside (challenging but totally manageable ) before following the trail back out to the parking area. Come discover one of western Pennsylvania's best kept secrets this spring!
