Activity Level 2: Moderate Location: Laurel Caverns, Farmington Guide: Laurel Caverns guide +WAC Guide Abby to join! Throughout the summer, the Women's Adventure Club is hosting a "Face Your Fears" series - a chance to get outside, try new things, and tackle our fears. Each event is designed to be fun, supportive, and offer the opportunity to challenge our comfort zones. For this event, we'll be tackling claustrophobia: the fear of confined spaces - with an adventure caving tour of Laurel Caverns! 🪨 On this guided tour, we'll be introduced to the marvelous sandstone cave that is Laurel Caverns. Our guide will walk us through the caverns, sharing the history and geology of this unique and fascinating space. We'll start in the lighted area before descending approximately 25 stories to the two largest unlit portions of the cave. Two side passages will also be explored — and yes, this does involve some crawling and shimmying through passages! Laurel Caverns provides a hard hat with a light, but participants are encouraged to bring a handheld light as well. Not sure if you're up for the full adventure? No worries, there's a practice space at the start where you can get a feel for things and decide how far you'd like to go. 😊 After our caving experience, we'll have a BYO picnic in the pavilion near the visitor's center - a perfect way to decompress, share stories, and celebrate facing our fears! 💌 Registered participants will receive an email with meeting location, suggested gear, and other pertinent info before the event.
