Throughout the summer, the Women's Adventure Club is hosting a "Face Your Fears" series - a chance to get outside, try new things, and tackle our fears. Each event is designed to be fun, supportive, and offer the opportunity to challenge our comfort zones. Throughout the summer, the WAC is hosting a "Face Your Fears" series of events to allow us to get out there, explore new things, and face some common fears that people have. For this event, we'll be tackling speluncaphobia, a fear of caves. For this cave tour, we will stay within the lighted area of Laurel Caverns and have a Laurel Caverns guide with us the entire time to tell us about the cave and answer our questions. The pathway on this adventure can accommodate those who cannot walk steps, use canes or walkers, and those who have hip, knee, or back issues. There is about 1,200 feet of walking down into the cave and, at the deepest point, we will be just 30 feet underground. We have an adventure caving group heading a bit deeper into the cave earlier in the day and then we'll hang out for lunch afterwards in their pavilion or picnic tables. If you'd like to arrive early (~12:30 to the stated arrival time), you can meet and chat with other participants from the Adventure Club and grill us on the depths of the cave! 🪨 💌 Registered participants will receive an email with meeting location, suggested gear, and other pertinent info before the event.
