About the Adventure

Activity Level 2: Moderate Location: Montour Woods Conservation Area, Moon Township Guides: Joe-lead, Megan-assist Introduction to Hiking Series This series of hikes has been designed for those who are new to hiking and those who want to learn a little more about what can help to make the hiking experience more rewarding. Sign up for all three or choose the hikes that appeal to you. Hike #3: Hiking and Basic Navigation Hike number three takes us to the Montour Woods Conservation area in Coraopolis/Moon Twp. On this hike you will learn basic map and compass skills so you can orient yourself and a map to true north. Next, you'll learn how to determine where you are on the map. Finally, we'll utilize the compass and map to navigate to a specific location. We’ll also look at the value of hiking apps that you may want to use. The hike will cover 2.0-2.5 miles of beautiful trails and ascend up to 250 feet. This adventure is a blend of hiking and instruction meant to help you with your navigation skills. If you've been wanting to get out for hikes but are feeling unsure about your navigation skills... Hike No. 3 is for you! Event details, including meeting location, suggested gear, and other pertinent info, will be sent via email to registered participants.

Cancellation Policy

To cancel your registration for an adventure, please make your cancellation at least 48 hours in advance of the outing. To cancel, please send a brief email to lindsay@womensadventureclubwpa.com Cancellations with insufficient notice, no-shows, and late arrivals who have missed the group’s departure are not eligible for a refund. We don't offer credit for future events. Refunds are issued in the form of original payment. If we cancel due to weather, you will receive a full refund. For cancellations involving an outfitter (SUP, rafting, kayaking, etc.) we follow the outfitter's cancellations policy.
