About the Adventure

Activity Level 2: Moderate Location: Indian Head, PA Guide: Joe – lead, Megan - assist Join us for a 13 mile out and back ride on the beautiful Indian Creek Valley Trail. This old railroad right of way was once used for passenger service and lumber, and coal hauling. We’ll begin our ride at the Indian Head trail entrance where we will quickly find the ride paralleling Indian Creek most of the way. Besides the beauty of the creek, there are rock outcropping and stands of rhododendron to take in. We will stop on the way back at a bridge that provides a great view up and down Indian Creek. There is an option to do only the first 10 miles as we return to the parking lot where we started. The other 3 miles is an out and back in the opposite direction from the parking area. This is a great ride for those wanting to not only see a wonderful trail, but to experience a ride in the Laurel Highlands. Total Distance: About 13 miles Leg 1: About 10 miles Leg 2: About 3 miles Total Elevation: About 475 feet Leg 1: About 360 feet Leg 2: About 115 feet WAC Biking Safety and Etiquette 1. Helmets are required and must be worn while riding. 2. Eye protection is strongly recommended. (sunglasses or clear safety glasses) 3. Using phones for talking or taking pictures while riding is unsafe and not permitted. 4. Front and rear lights are recommended. Lights are required for tunnels. (Headlamp is fine.) 5. We ride single file and maintain 1-2 bike lengths between riders. 6. We ride on the right side of the trail and pass on the left. 7. We use hand signals for turns and braking. Event details, including meeting location, suggested gear, and other pertinent info, will be sent via email to registered participants.
