About the Adventure

Activity Level 4: Strenuous (distance + elevation gain) Location: Bear Run Nature Reserve, Mill Run, PA Guide: Lindsay I adore Bear Run. It offers so much beauty! Located near Falling Water, Bear Run is the largest property owned by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy and one of the most stunning natural landscapes in Pennsylvania. While much of the hike is through a maturing hardwood forest, we’ll also experience stands of Eastern White Pine and Hemlock, encounter swaths of rhododendrons and cross over Bear Run 8 different times via wooden bridges. We will ascend to the highest point in the reserve - so expect a steady climb for 3 miles. The pace of this hike will be about 2 - 2.25 mph. This hike is great training for bigger adventures ahead! Driving time from Pittsburgh to Bear Run in Mill Run, PA is about 1.5 hours. Total distance: 8.2 miles Elevation gain: approximately 1250 feet 💌 Registered participants will receive an email with meeting location, suggested gear, and other pertinent info before the event.
